Joseph Rahman M.D.
Dr. Joseph Rahman was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. From an early age, Joseph had a strong interest in chemistry, physics, and medicine. He attended Northwestern University in Chicago. He graduated magna cum laude as a double engineering major in biomedical and chemical engineering in 1997. As an undergraduate, Joseph participated in research involving polymers that are now used in coronary artery stents. Dr. Rahman graduated summa cum laude from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2001. He continued his training at the U.S. News & World Reports #1 Ranked Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He trained and taught as a member of the Sir William Osler Residency Program in Internal Medicine. He became a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2004. During his training at Johns Hopkins, he conducted research in heart failure. He wrote one of the seminal papers on cardiac amyloidosis, a disorder of protein deposition in the heart. In 2004, Dr. Rahman continued his training, research, and teaching at the UCLA Medical Center. He published papers regarding the use of stem cells in heart failure. He gained clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of heart disease, including coronary artery disease, cholesterol disorders, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. He is board certified in Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. He has expertise in performing and interpreting Nuclear Stress Tests, Stress Echocardiograms, Transthoraic and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TTEs/TEEs), and Coronary CTA or CT angiograms. He also performs diagnostic coronary angiography. Dr. Rahman has a strong interest in preventative cardiology. He firmly believes in the old adage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." He loves staying abreast of the latest medical research in an effort to provide the best medical care to his patients. He also has an excellent working relationship with other physicians and surgeons at UCLA Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCSD Medical Center, Hoag Medical Center, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
